TNC: Toyin's NOUN Community Meetups in Ondo

TNC: Toyin's NOUN Community Meetups in Ondo

About Me

I'm Akintunde Favour Bisola, a community organizer with experience in hosting various events including cleanups, educational visits to schools, team gatherings, picnics, and discussion sessions on various topics including health and spirituality. I have a 2-year background in web3 and connections with experienced professionals who can help teach others about this space.

Location

Ondo State, Nigeria

Ondo is an ideal location for this initiative because there's a young demographic teeming with strength but limited knowledge resources to generate meaningful results. These meetups will be both relaxing and equipping for the young minds in Ondo town especially.

Past Experience

I have organized several community initiatives including:

  • Community cleanups
  • Educational visits to schools
  • Team gatherings and picnics
  • Scripture discussion meetups
  • Health worker sessions on medicolegal themes

Past community work

Meetup Vision

My vision is to create regular meetups that unravel tech and Nouns to young minds in Ondo State. These gatherings will include:

  • Idea-thons on sustainable cities, sustainable energy, and circular economy
  • Awareness events on appropriate waste management and individual responsibility
  • Practical sessions on gardening and composting for sustainability
  • Discussions on creative themes like fashion, music, and lifestyle
  • Leadership training sessions
  • Conversations about spirituality and personal growth

Specific Nouns education will cover topics like blockchains, DAOs, web3 onboarding, NFTs, and real-world Nouns applications. These will be taught by experienced professionals including myself and my network of web3-knowledgeable friends.

The first meetup will be held within the first month of application approval and will focus on "Tech and Sustainability." It will be a discussion-based session where we'll think outside the box, get introduced to the Nouns project, and enjoy refreshments. Based on participant feedback, we'll plan subsequent events.

Meetups will be held monthly, preferably on the last Saturday of each month, with any changes communicated to the community in advance.

Community Engagement Strategy

To build and maintain an engaged community, I will:

  • Host both online and physical meetups
  • Partner with people already working in relevant spaces to connect with their communities
  • Create TNC (Toyin's NOUN Community) where members will receive information about upcoming events
  • Provide incentives for active members
  • Organize quizzes with prizes to be won

My measurable goals include introducing at least 10 people to become active Nouners within 3 months, and at least 30 people to Nouns culture overall.

Accessibility and Risk Management

I plan to involve university students, secondary school students, and reach youth through different associations in the state, employing interpreters where needed to ensure content is accessible to all.

I'll plan with at least one or two other team members so that in the event of any glitches, the meeting or event continues while someone works on fixing the problem.

Success will be measured by:

  • Number of participants
  • Meaningful networks formed
  • Knowledge gaps bridged
  • Actions that follow our meetups or events

Personal Motivation

Some months ago, I had a light bulb moment about the relationship between web3 and waste management. It opened my eyes to the utility and real-life applications that tech and web3 can have. I believe that Nouns is trying to bring that awareness to everyone's conscious mind, and I would love to be a part of this mission.

Budget Utilization

Funds will be allocated to:

  • Venue rentals
  • Travel expenses for events or meetups
  • Refreshments for participants
  • Educational materials
  • Compensation for invited resource persons

Documentation Examples

I will document all meetups through:

  • Short articles
  • Twitter threads
  • Pictures and videos

This comprehensive documentation will help share our progress with the broader Nouns community and attract more participants to future events.
