Project Overview

Project Title: African Skate Web3 Network What does your project do?: I'm building a knowledge-sharing network that connects skate organizations across Africa to the world of crypto, NFTs, Web3, and emerging tech. Rather than creating a product that requires constant maintenance, I'm bringing together "skate brains" - creatives, leaders, and riders from grassroots skate collectives who have passion but lack access to Web3 knowledge. Through peer education, live workshops, online discussions, and community-built resources, I guide these groups in understanding how blockchain and AI can help them create, collaborate, earn, and grow globally.

Community building at skate park construction

Mission statement: To transform how the entire African skate scene engages with the digital economy, making crypto, NFTs, and tech feel relevant and accessible to the skate community - not as a trend, but as a tool for empowerment.

Problem & Solution

What problem are you solving?: Most local African skate scenes haven't been equipped with the tools or understanding to benefit from our AI-driven, digital-first world. There's a massive knowledge gap preventing talented skaters and creative communities from accessing global earning opportunities through Web3 platforms.

How do people currently solve this problem?: Currently, skaters in Uganda and Africa either have no accessible education about crypto and Web3, or they struggle with resources that aren't relevant to their context. Many have negative perceptions of crypto without proper knowledge, creating barriers to adoption.

Revenue & Business Model

How will you make money?: I earn referral fees when I help skaters purchase NFTs and engage with platforms like SkateHive, where I've already earned $120 in just a few months. My revenue streams include:

  • Referral fees from successful onboarding to Web3 platforms
  • Small consulting fees when helping communities launch NFT projects
  • Partnership fees with platforms wanting to reach African markets
  • Premium workshops for advanced Web3 topics

What will you sell?: Web3 education, onboarding services, and ongoing community support to help African skate organizations earn from their content and creativity.

Do you currently have revenue?: Yes - I've earned approximately $120 from SkateHive in just a few months, and I've already onboarded BMX and roller skaters to the platform in great numbers.

Progress & Execution

How far along are you?: The idea is already in action. I've successfully onboarded numerous BMX and roller skaters to SkateHive and have established trust with 5 skate organizations across Uganda (plus KSI where I'm already active).

Teaching MetaMask wallet creation on Kampala streets

Are people already using your product?: Yes - I'm already teaching skaters about Web3, as shown in the image above where I'm demonstrating MetaMask wallet creation on the streets of Kampala after a skate session.

What's your timeline to launch/completion?:

  • Months 1-2: In-person meetings with all 5 skate organizations, surveying digital phone capabilities
  • Months 1-4: Intensive crypto basics education with weekly testing and small trial transactions
  • Months 5-6: Advanced platform onboarding and earning optimization
  • Target: 35 skaters (7 from each of 5 scenes) actively earning through Web3 platforms

How long have you been working on this?: I've been building trust in the Uganda skate scene through gradual voluntary work, traveling, and participating in competitions. This foundation of trust is what makes the Web3 education possible.

Technical Details

Implementation plan: I use a proven educational approach:

  1. Show real earnings ($120 from SkateHive) to build credibility
  2. Maintain consistency through weekly check-ins and engagement tracking
  3. Focus on practical applications rather than just theory
  4. Test understanding through recaps before allowing real transactions
  5. Start with small trial transactions to build confidence

My ICT certificate background and experience from crypto/forex meetings in Kampala give me the technical foundation to teach effectively.

What's a non-obvious detail about your project?: The key insight is that onboarding is just the beginning - maintaining engagement is where real value happens. My follow-up system with weekly scheduled meetings is what makes this work, unlike one-time educational efforts that fail.

Founder Background

Why are you uniquely qualified for this?: I'm a recognized brand in the Uganda skate scene with established trust across all major organizations. I have hands-on experience earning from Web3 platforms, ICT technical background, and proven community building skills. Most importantly, I understand both the skateboarding culture and the crypto world.

Hands-on community building - skate park construction

How did you come up with this idea?: My entry into crypto through WorldCoin ($WLD) and subsequent earnings from SkateHive showed me the potential. When I tried to share this with other skate scenes, I encountered both enthusiasm and skepticism, revealing the need for proper education and trust-building.

Past achievement: I helped build Uganda's first skateboard park in the northern parts of the country, working hands-on with construction and bringing together diverse communities. This shows my ability to execute large-scale community projects that create lasting impact.

Funding & Growth

How will you use the funding?:

  • Travel costs between 5 skate scenes for initial in-person meetings
  • Internet and communication costs for weekly online sessions
  • Small amounts for trial transactions to build confidence
  • Documentation and content creation to share learnings

If you had 10x more funding, what would change?: I could expand across multiple African countries, work with larger groups per scene, and create more comprehensive educational materials. This would accelerate the vision of transforming how the entire African skate scene engages with the digital economy.

Best-case outcome: The entire African skate scene adopts crypto payment systems and actively engages with the Web3 world, creating sustainable income streams for thousands of skaters while building a model that can be replicated globally.

Additional Information

How did you hear about this accelerator?: RocketMan shared this opportunity on Farcaster. I follow his work closely and want to be present in the Farcaster scene, engaging with all opportunities to build and grow.

Additional links or materials: My work with the Kampala Skateboard Initiative demonstrates consistent community building and positive impact across Uganda's skateboarding scene.

Images / branding: The images above show real community impact - from hands-on construction work building Uganda's first northern skate park, to street-level Web3 education, to the scale of community engagement we're achieving. This isn't theoretical - it's happening now and ready to scale across Africa.

Revenue Scaling: 🎯 Month 1: Ignite & Introduce Goal: Plant the seed, and identify early believers. (This is already achieved) • Physical Visit to the 5 skate organizations in person • In Each Org – target 4–6 shredders with genuine devices and get them onboarded. Why 4–6? Mainly because not all shredders have devices. So this number is attainable in each org. • Host 1–2 online onboarding sessions (Discord Space, Telegram) • Distribute intro materials: “What is Crypto?”, “Why Web3 for Skaters?” – this is my main part since most questions are about what Web3 means! • Start Telegram group or Discord/Same • Capture videos/photos of sessions & post online ✅ Main Goal: 20 skaters reached, 10 join community platform

💸 Expenditure Breakdown: – $45 for transport to 5 skate orgs – $25 for printed materials – $20 for data bundles and online tools – $25 for capturing content (photos/videos)/ since I can’t be talking about the idea at the same time behind the lens. – $25 for starter community incentives (leaving physical stickers. Shirts) – $10 for miscellaneous/emergency needs

🎯 Month 2: Teach the Basics (Crypto + Wallets) Goal: Deepen understanding, hands-on wallet creation, explain value – such sessions have been carried out with BMXers and shredders who often come to my skatespot, but more who aren’t in my area, need this too. • Sessions on setting up wallets (MetaMask, Phantom, Zerion) – mainly these 3 • Teach basic crypto concepts: public/private keys, tokens, gas fees, P2P • Hold first micro “wallet challenge” (e.g., sign a message, receive a tip, use the right networks) • Drop mini incentives (airdrops, testnet tokens, stickers) – this with the help from LordVlad ✅ Main Goal: 10 skaters with wallets, 2/4start blogging/posting about it

💸 Expenditure Breakdown: – $30 for online session management – $40 for wallet setup incentives (airdrops/testnet tokens) – $20 for transport top-ups – $25 to support skater internet access – $30 for content and edits – $15 for emergency/miscellaneous

🎯 Month 3: Apply Web3 Tools Creatively Goal: Show skaters how Web3 can power their creativity and hustle • Demonstrate: NFTs, DAO voting, decentralized websites • Micro-project challenge: “Mint your skate trick as an NFT on Zora” • Guest session with local dev or designer • Push content to platforms (Twitter/X, YouTube Shorts, TikTok) ✅ Main Goal: 3–5 NFT experiments, more content traction online: staking on SkateHive NFTs during live sessions

💸 Expenditure Breakdown: – $30 for NFT minting fees – $25 reward to guest dev/designer: Gnars Dev – $25 for live session bundles and internet – $30 for editing and pushing content – $40 for skater incentives – $10 for buffer/miscellaneous

🎯 Month 4: Build Projects in Crews Goal: Move from learners to builders • Form 3–4 small teams (“Shredder squads”) from each skate org to represent • Challenge: build a basic skate-related project (merch store featuring the funding project) • Provide small micro-grants ($5–10 worth per team for testing to their created wallets) • Mentor check of what they build ✅ Main Goal: 2 early-stage projects launched publicly

💸 Expenditure Breakdown: – $40 for team micro-grants – $30 for mentorship transport/check-ins – $25 for skater data access during builds – $25 for capturing content from projects – $30 for organizing with skate orgs – $10 for emergencies

🎯 Month 5: Go Public & Share the Vision Goal: Create visibility, spark outside interest • Organize a mini online “Demo Day” to show the world what’s happening • Publish short documentary-style video or skate+tech montage • Tag DAOs, NFT communities, Web3 educators — push visibility 💡 Get the standing out shredders to have a Binance Crypto Certificate ✅ Main Goal: 1 collab offer or shoutout, check growth on online followers

💸 Expenditure Breakdown: – $60 for Binance Certification fees (2–3 standout skaters) – $30 for organizing and hosting Demo Day – $30 for editing montage/video content – $30 for promoting on socials (Twitter/IG/YouTube) – $10 for miscellaneous

🎯 Month 6: Expand & Prepare for Scale Goal: Prep for next phase, bring in more regions, gather data. Since Uganda will be done at hand, we need to extend this across borders: • Reach out to 2–3 East African skate communities (Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi,Congo) • Survey results: what worked, what didn’t • Publish a report or case study on the movement’s impact • Pitch next round of support (grants, brand collabs, DAO funding) ✅ Main Goal: 1 partnership or grant lead secured, plan ready for Phase 2

💸 Expenditure Breakdown: – $60 for regional outreach (calls, border travel, collaborations) – $30 for feedback surveys and organizing

  • publishing and sharing a report or case study – $50 for pitching the movement to grant/funding orgs: should they buy the idea and allow shredders to join and work under them. – remaining fees back to the DAO through NFt or DroProposal Mints
