Greenpill Brasil - Bioregional Regenerative Development
I'm leading Greenpill Brasil, a comprehensive regenerative finance initiative that bridges agroecology with web3 innovation to drive bioregional development across Brazil. After 2 years of building this community-driven movement, we're actively implementing multiple initiatives that demonstrate how web3 can boost local regenerative economies.
Current Focus & Activities
Regen Rio Value Token Experiment
We're conducting an innovative experiment on sarafu.network using a commitment pool setup to distribute cReal (Brazilian Real stablecoin) from our Gitcoin GG23 matching pool. This involves allocating $5,000 USD across 21 grantees from our Regen Rio de Janeiro community round, fostering local economy swaps that go beyond financial dimensions. Our goal is to have all 21 projects create their vouchers and receive their credits, demonstrating how cities can leverage web3 for community impact.
Strategic Environmental Projects
- Funding $700 for an irrigation system for a Vetiver grass nursery - a strategic initiative supporting this powerful anti-erosion and water retention resource with deep root systems
- Allocating $1,000+ for climate bounty campaigns around agroforestry task forces, ecological cleanups, and climate resilience artistic performances
Community Building & Education
- Leading weekly meetings and creating educational content
- Developing our legal structure and governance framework using the O2 organic organizations model
- Running a cohort with 7 people to compose our initial governance circle, including non-violent communication training
- Partnering with the dev guild on the Green Goods pilot program
- Planning participation in the Nacional Agroecology Groups meeting (ENGA)
Goals for Next 3 Months
- Complete allocation of all GG23 matching funds through our innovative Regen Rio Value Token model
- Reach at least 10,000 people through educational outreach and social media
- Onboard and educate 50+ people from agroecology and permaculture backgrounds
- Finalize our website and continue producing educational resources
- Advance our ecological credits protocol development
Background & Experience
I hold a bachelor's degree in agroecology, which grounds me in territorial history, ancestral wisdom, and regenerative systemic approaches. My previous engineering studies and technical scholarship experience, combined with involvement in self-organizing structures through agroecology and university work, prepared me for this leadership role. My involvement with web3 came from curiosity and relationship with technology - I'm a strong advocate of the JunglePunk Movement in Ethereum.
Major Achievements
Our biggest milestone has been the Regen Rio de Janeiro round, which allocated over 150,000 Reais - a substantial impact in the Brazilian context. This success now serves as our portfolio for local partnerships, demonstrating what cities can accomplish with web3 enhancement. Beyond the numbers, we've maintained an active, resilient community for 2 years despite significant challenges.
Overcoming Challenges
Building Greenpill Brasil hasn't been without obstacles. We've faced information overhead, governance conflicts, and even sabotage of our previous governance token. These experiences taught us valuable lessons about community management and conflict resolution. The O2 cohort we're implementing, with its non-violent communication training and daily operational framework using Target Teal's methodology, directly addresses these learnings.
Innovation & Future Development
We're developing a protocol for ecological credits with our community, representing our commitment to creating new tools for regenerative finance. This work exemplifies our approach of combining technical innovation with deep ecological understanding.
