About Me
I am Juan Jaramillo Silva, known artistically as Noisk8. I am a livecoder, DJ, and electronic music producer based in Medellín. I create dance-oriented electronic music using Python livecoding and VCV Rack modular synthesis, specializing in genres like EBM, techno, and electro. My commitment to open-source tools and knowledge sharing aligns perfectly with Nouns' philosophy of creating positive externalities and embracing innovation.

Musical Style
My performances combine live coding with modular synthesis to create immersive electronic dance experiences. I exclusively use open-source tools like Python for live coding, VCV Rack for modular synthesis, and Hydra for visual programming. This commitment to open-source technology carries forward the original spirit of electronic music - democratizing music creation and making it accessible to everyone, regardless of their economic resources.
By using free and open-source tools, we break down the financial barriers that traditionally kept music production accessible only to those who could afford expensive equipment. This approach resonates deeply with both the history of electronic music as a democratizing force and Nouns' philosophy of creating positive impact and accessibility for all. When people see that they can create powerful musical experiences with free tools, it opens new possibilities for creative expression, especially in communities with limited resources.
Example performances:
Public Performance Plan
I will host 2-3 live performances/recording sessions at Platohedro, a recognized cultural space in Medellín. These sessions will be open to the public and will also be recorded for wider distribution. Each performance will not only showcase the music but also demonstrate how accessible tools can create professional-quality electronic music, inspiring others to explore these possibilities. The sessions will include explanations of the tools used, promoting the democratization of electronic music creation.
Nounish Integration
I will integrate Noggles into the visual aspect of performances using Hydra, an open-source live coding environment for visual synthesis. This approach embodies the Nouns philosophy by making both the music and visuals completely transparent and accessible - anyone can see the code, learn from it, and build upon it. The performances will demonstrate how open-source tools can create compelling audiovisual experiences while fostering a culture of sharing and collaborative creation, making electronic music and visual art accessible to communities that might otherwise be excluded due to economic barriers.
