Current Impact
We are currently serving our community through:
- Active farming of diverse crops including maize, watermelons, tomatoes, cabbages, and onions
- Supporting 30 households (approximately 2,000 people) with food security
- Managing community-led farming initiatives
- Training youth in agricultural skills
The Challenge
Our community faces two critical challenges:
Water Access:
- Community members walk 3-4 kilometers for clean water
- Farmers rely on expensive motorcycle transport for water delivery
- Current water collection system is inefficient and time-consuming
- Limited irrigation affects crop yields
Land Constraints:
- Need 3 additional acres for expansion
- Current land insufficient for growing community needs
- Limited space for crop rotation and sustainable practices
Proposed Solution
We seek support for:
Water Infrastructure:
- Borehole drilling for sustainable water access ($15,000)
- Will serve entire community of 2,000 people
- Reduces water transport costs
- Enables reliable irrigation
Land Expansion:
- Acquisition of 3 acres ($21,000 total)
- Enables increased crop variety
- Supports sustainable farming practices
- Creates more opportunities for community involvement
Implementation Plan
Phase 1: Water Access
- Professional borehole drilling
- Installation of water storage systems
- Creation of irrigation infrastructure
- Community training on water management
Phase 2: Land Expansion
- Land acquisition and documentation
- Soil preparation and enhancement
- Implementation of crop rotation system
- Extension of existing farming programs
This project will:
- Provide clean water access to 2,000 community members
- Reduce water collection time from hours to minutes
- Enable year-round farming activities
- Create additional employment opportunities
- Improve food security for 30 households
- Establish sustainable agricultural practices
Track Record
Our success is demonstrated through:
- Established community farm with diverse crops
- Strong community participation and leadership
- Successful implementation of farming programs
- Proven ability to manage resources effectively
- Current production of watermelons, maize, tomatoes, and other crops
Sustainability Plan
We will ensure long-term success through:
- Community-led management committee
- Regular maintenance of water infrastructure
- Sustainable farming practices
- Knowledge sharing and training programs
- Reinvestment of farming proceeds
