• Previous event organizing experience: I have run my local weekly Melee tournament for two years now. I also have a regional planned for the summer that capped out in less than a week, demonstrating my ability to attract participants and organize successful events.

Event Overview

Game Details

• Game genres: Super Smash Bros. Melee (singles and doubles) as the main focus, with plans to branch out into the wider FGC scene in Columbus through side events
• Event format: Double elimination bracket tournaments held bi-monthly

Attendance & Broadcasting

• Expected attendance per event: Starting with 50 participants for the first tournament, with steady growth expected beyond that
• Broadcasting setup: We will be streaming a main setup with commentary in another room. The setup will be RCA output into a capture card, fed into a laptop that commentators will watch and talk into.

Prize Structure

• Monthly prize pool allocation: 50% of the monthly budget will go toward the prize pool
• Prize distribution format:
  • 1st place: 50%
  • 2nd place: 20%
  • 3rd place: 13%
  • 4th place: 7%
  • 5th place: 3%
  • 5th place: 3%
  • 7th place: 2%
  • 7th place: 2%

Event Schedule

Our 3-month trial phase will begin with events on May 10th and July 26th, with the bi-monthly schedule continuing from there. These events will feature Melee tournaments with 50-70 entrants, with potential side events to expand our reach in the FGC community.

Budget Breakdown

• Prize Pool (50%): Allocated to tournament prizes as detailed above
• Remaining budget allocation:
  • Artist payments for marketing materials
  • Venue costs
  • Tournament organizer compensation
  • Carpool reimbursements for players traveling from far away
  • Equipment costs for tournament setup

Promotion Strategy

I will leverage my existing network to promote these events effectively. This includes marketing on Discord using my connections to other Melee scenes, as well as on X with my thousand Smash followers. My track record of filling events quickly demonstrates my promotional capabilities.

Our venue is a restaurant, bar, and esports center that provides the perfect atmosphere for competitive gaming events while offering amenities that enhance the player and spectator experience.
