Hospital Patient Aid Project

Hospital Patient Aid Project

About Me

I'm Akintunde Faith, and I've been involved in various community service projects in the past, including cleaning public refuse dumping sites, planting trees to reduce greenhouse gases, and educating rural communities about the dangers of improper refuse disposal.

Planned Community Service Activities

In the past 6 months, I've visited the hospital at least twice weekly due to my Dad's health condition. During these visits, I've noticed the suffering many patients go through while being on admission. Some are unable to pay for basic bills such as bed rest, some cannot afford medicine for their treatments, and many others don't have access to nutritious meals vital for their recovery.

I plan on making visits twice monthly to the University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital in Ondo State to provide:

  • Medical supplies for those who can't afford them
  • Beverages such as tea for patients
  • Quality nutritious meals for those who cannot afford them

Expected Impact

I plan on visiting at least one to two patients each time, giving a total of at least two to four patients monthly who will receive assistance. This support will help improve their recovery process by ensuring they have access to proper nutrition and necessary medical supplies that they otherwise couldn't afford.

The nutritious meals I plan to provide include pasta with fish, eggs, and vegetables. For those who are not able to consume solid foods, beverages would be provided instead.

Previous Experience

Through my time spent at the hospital over the months, I've gotten familiar with many staff members, particularly those in charge of managing my father's health. They are open to me assisting patients and can help identify those most in need.

I've had experiences with community service projects in the past such as cleaning of public refuse dumping sites, planting of trees to reduce the effect of greenhouse gases, and education of rural communities about dangers of improper refuse disposal.

Implementation Plan

I will implement this project by:

  • Working with hospital health assistant workers to identify patients who need extra help or who may not be able to afford good food and medications
  • Making twice-monthly visits to the hospital
  • Using protective equipment like gloves and face masks during visits
  • Providing nutritious meals and necessary medical supplies
  • Documenting the impact through photos and videos (with permission)
  • Interviewing patients who have benefited from the program (with proper permission from management)

Through my established relationships with hospital staff from my time there with my father, I have support for implementing this project effectively.
